that's exactly what I was looking for. As it was, the peak power was at 4900 rpm, which is perfect for a big block, buit a bit strange in a small 4 cylk

Peak power you say? Was it still making good power after that?
Remmember that with a blower there is also the parasitic losses to contend with, as well a the efficiency dropping off as it spins faster. (At least with the crappy toyota blowers anyway)
I guess a small amount of retardation wont hurt. The best way to determine optimum timing would be on a dyno I supose.

All back together on 5psi and running stronger with less timing than previously on 5 psi (5deg rather than 8, static). I will get a few more k's on it before I add more timing. Then comes the water injection and 10 psi.

Note to all: Make sure you loctite the flywheel bolts. I found out the hard way. thought I had just killed the new engine.

A14Force: Yeah, power dropped off sharply after 4900rpm..... and I don't think this cam adjustment will have changed that situation much- but it has given me a bit extra accross the range (either that or the last few months of driving diesels has recalibrated my brain.)

It probably has. When you go from a slow car to a fast one (Or vis versa) the difference is always amazing. After driving my 1200 for two weeks, I thought the handbrake was on when I got back into my cefiro.

Yes I do have a nitrous kit. That will be going on later this year.

Well, at some time we all need to face the harsh reality. Although our beloved Datto's were a great design for their day, and maybe even advanced for their day, the most practical way to get a forced induction datsun with a 5-speed and LSD is to sell your 1000/1200 and buy a 200SX or Skyline. And I know I'm certainly NOT going to do that!

What I'm saying is, do what ever you want to do, simply because you want to. If you start talking practicality....

Well, thats my two-bobs!
