it probably helps if you have other insurance with them aswell.

another useless thread about insurance? i hope not
Having worked for one of the companies mentioned in my past, you need to know how to deal with insurance companies and not take it personally.
Basically if your young and a modded car no one will really touch you.
You can try to run the risks with shannons etc by insuring in your mums/dads.brothers name and when you claim you havewasted all your money in premiums and still have to fix your car and what you have hit etc.
Just cars wont do cars over 35 years for comprehensive, may consider it for third party only or third party fire and theft with photos. custom are hit and miss. may take it but say anything over 30 they wont touch, will chuck you back to gio as classic but they wont touch you cause of mods.
Vigil, hit and miss, usually have to have off street parking.
Benny is on the ball, if you have other insurance they are usually willing to consider it.
Try young and cool. they might do it. I say might depending on driving history.
theres ways into insurance and once there some will get rid of you, some will price you out and some will just keep you on ftill you go somewhere else and never touch you again.
Do more research and listen to what people say (other car folk and the insurers) Some people call over and over looking for a weak link in a person that offers them insurance because there are so many opperators.
some people start online policies and then call week or so later to update details such as cars year or similar.
they are not scum, they have rules that they opperate by and legally cant really break them. They call them guidelines. And you wont know them unless you work for them as they are not disclosed to the public or competitors. If you are smart youd take notes of what they say they cant do and work out what they can. Start from there and work with it.
Always shop around even during the year for best prices/benefits.
Im a beliver in insurance, cause you never want to pay for a mercedes that will never be yours.

get the third party (assuming its probably with just cars). other insurers might take you a better risk if they know someone else insured you, especially owned by the same financial backers.... cough suncorp...

I once had a 64 datsun bluebird around 2002. No one could assist, however finally got hold of a member from a vintage and veterans club, and they pointed me out to few insurance companies. Wasnt cheap though.
Try those guys out to point you in the right direction

BTW, slightly off the topic, but Here in South Africa, the 1400 utes are considered high risk, Its amongst the Top 6 vehicles, The Insurance premiums are ridicously high. My UTE retail is 50000bucks, insurance every month is about 700bucks. Old or New, the Datsuns/Nissan are worth stealin

Its just one of those strange things in life. I had some difficulty finding insurance for my 2001 patrol. It has had a chassis/cab extension, all legit, with plates and papers, but most companies dont want to touch it cause its modified. I had one mob say they would insure me if I lived in Sydney central, but not WA. The funniest part is that I ended getting insurnace with a company that was underwritten buy another company that refused me! , but they will only insure it for current market value. They arent intested in the fact that it has about $25000 worth of mods done to it. (extensions and donk swap). Insurance policies is just one of those things that unless you have worked in the industry, you will never understand. Keep trying, somebody should help you out.

Good timing for this thread.....
I insured my ute yesterday with Shannons. Mod's: CA18DET, 180SX front brakes, R31 diff, R31 fuel tank, Seats.
Limited use quote (3 day per week) - $424.32
Daily driver quote - $541.56
Agreed value of $15K.
It must be said though that I'm in the over 30's category.
