Mate,
Ive heard of guys using copper but i wouldn't plus i think it is illegal in some states, not too sure though.
You can buy Bundy tubing from Repco, Autopro and those places. If you want to go upmarket then use Aluminium or Stainless tubing. Bundy and Al are easy to bend, Stainless is a bit harder though (But looks great in a show car).
