They have 225/45R17 tyres on them. They dont scrub when accelerating or braking, they scrub when going around corners.
Also they dont scrub on the outside guard, they scrub in the wheel arch down near the boot. I think if i put 8mm spacers on them they hit the outer guard. i havent had any passengers yet.

PIGDOG what is the widest wheel that still allows you to turn?

Why dont you just do a little bit of panel beating on the front? It really isnt very had, simply a big shifter over the lip will bend it out very easily, or a hammer on the inside with a big heavy block of wood on the outside as not to damage the paint too much. You should be able to get them on the front. Its just a car!

cheers

thanks 120fly. ive had the car just over a year. its only got 66,000kms on it.
So if i put 215/40R17's on them they wont scrub on the back? I only have 2 rims so i dont have them on the front. I started another thread a while ago to try and find out what they are called so i can look for 2 more but i didnt get any helpful replys.

Do yourself a favor get 15s of the similar pattern, they still look huge!!!

15s are lighter better economy
15s will fit taller tyre, absorb bumps & wont ruin suspension
15s turn beautfiully, no touching guards
15s on 120y look better balanced
15s wont scruff with mates in the back
15s handle better lowering car with 205 all round
15s cheaper for rims and custom tyres, get 6 inch rim for 205/50 or 55

Bigger isnt always better with period cars, but it you want the big ass non handling just cruiser then get mini tubs and flare the fronts.

Otherwise with big wheels and handling dont mix unless they are billets and enough clearance all round.

I guarantee they rub the guards with mates in the back. thats my advice from experience, good luck shes a beautiful car.

If you go 205/40-17 they should fit all around.

Well, they are rather non-descript. Without a brand name, you are never going to find exact matches. And what with wheel manufacturers changing their offerings at least once a year, if they are old you'll likely never find another 2.

Even if you find what they are (look at ads in fast4s etc) They might not be available in 17x6, and even then you may have troubles with the spring perch. I tried putting +30 15x6 with 195/50 tyres on standard struts in my 120Y and they were very close to the spring perch (and rubbed the strut) I think with those sort of rims you would need large spacers even on a 6" rim to clear the strut. I reckon you should sell the 17s and buy a set of 16s or 15s that fit better. IMO 17s look too big.

My 15s...
