Dont forget carbon bonnets have a french revolution guillotine on front end accidents.

Doors on the other hand are where the heaviest part of the 1000 is for hinged parts and where Carbon fibre of the good kind (so many qualities and strengths) can protech occupants better and give you the best performance. I think the doors weigh about 25-35kg each. GTR CF doors are 8kgs without lexan. Lexan can be use like land rover or early combi aviation type sliding windows and be free of shattering or splinting.

yes they do but it aslo depends of how the fibers run and it wont shatter as much as u think also i could use the original bonet and put a layer of carbon fiber over it just for looks as wieght isnt really an issue as it is a street car. Ultimatly doors would be the go but honestly i dont think i could be bothered to make moulds and every thing for a door but if there is a market for them it might be worth looking into.

i think the 1000 bonnet is too flimsy, and not designed properly to go over about 100kmh without fluttering to much, threatening to fly open and the skin comes away from the frame in the middle from all the flexing. the folded over edges that sit on the rubbers insde the front guards to keep it tight give and bend too easily. thats been my experience with them anyway.

so instead of race type bonnet pins which spoil the originality, a carbon fibre bonnet would solve the problem well I think.

So use Urethane to re-glue the frame back on,
and as for Carbon,
use Hybrid twill with 50/50 carbon aramid.. problem solvered...
