haha yeah Lachie love that red Gem, thats a fkn huge turbo :)

Was talkin to the dude that built the 240rwkw FJ 120Y posted below, he built it coz his 1200 wagon was too well known and everyone wanted to race him, so he put the motor in the 120Y so he could choose his races and inflict more shame on HSV owners

I have a 98 magna altera sleeper, the slight lowering, bigger exhaust and wider 225 potenza tyres on factory alloys are a little giveaway tho.
beats wrx's with a load of people and bags on board, and its only a 3.0.

If u r building it, make it look as neat and tidy as possible to avoid unwanted attention, making it handle etc as well can be a little giveaway, but thats ok because u cant get the power down on stock 155/12 tyres

Thanks for posting those coupe pics boys, probably my favourite sleeper.

My cousin has an early '90s Hilux with big chromies (looks like a lo-lux). At the 'Nats every yells to 'hit the switches' or 'piss off home' until he hits the go peddle and opens the old 5lt up. It used to have a canopy as well for that real sleeper look, but that's long gone.

Sleepers have so much more credit that something that advertises itself.

Everyone who has been in a car that looks flashy knows that you constantly get asked to race, and you get all sorts harrasing you.

a sleeper no only avoids all that, but you get so much more satisifaction when they are so sure of themselves, and you wipe the floor with them.

Go the sleeper. I think this thread hs just cemented the idea in my mind. I was planning on keeping daisy standardish looking, but now I think the white walls and venentian is essential to keep em guessing.

Y'all kept talking about "Venetians" and I was having a hard time figuring out what you meant. Once I saw the pictures of that coupe I knew though. Where can I get a set of those? I don't think we got them here in the States. All we had were the kind that went on the outside.

Dont quote me, but I think the venetians are an aussie 70s thing.

Perhaps the rest of the world dont have enough class to have em!

They were a ZA thing at some stage too. I saw a new Merc with one on the other day, it was a new car, or not more than 3 years old...

I though I might smack some sense into the guy, instead I stomped on the loud pedal, and got out of there before it rubbed of on me...

EDIT: And even though my car might be slightly over built to qualify as a sleeper, the other night that guy with his 650i beemer got a hell of a surprise when I gave him a good o'l hiding...
