About $4500 USD (AUS $5500) to land one, plus sundry costs. Hmm could start getting out of the price range of all but the most dedicated.

A bulk delvidery thing would have to be the go, in order to get some sort of discount on the shipping. Sort of Gone in 60 Seconds bulk style. (the new one in the scene at the end )

Bescides 1200s are over rated. 1000s would be the only cars worth importing.

I'm in with ddgonzal, I'd pay $4500 for a ute. Just have to get the new wife (getting married monday) to agree to spending the $. Would also like to know where the 510's are in Cal and if they have 1200 cpe's. I might have a 1200 2dr sedan shell that could go to the cause. I will be out of touch for a week, if any of the state side guys want to check into putting a ute for sedan trade together please PM me and I will check when i get back from vacation.

(not wanting to start a big debate, but it can be a big turn off for a lot of people)

there are a lot of utes here in nz (they were assembled here) and I would happily do a ute/ 510 2 door trade, even two for one if you can find me a mint 510...

hehe, good point, I almost forgot about that. I reckon they have more room than a Datsun 1000 ute, which is why I'm not wanting a 1000.

If you were keen to get a ute, wagon or evan a sedan to LA I have some friends in the importing and exporting here in canberra I will ask them what it would cost. It's not hard to do i've imported cars from the US before, should be the same to send them to the US.

I nearly bought a car from NZ. Doing a roll on / roll off shipment from Christchurch to Long Beach (about 20 miles South of Los Angeles) was about $1500 USD.

just to give an update, I left a message for my buddy to give me the guy's info on importing/exporting. As soon as I can get it I will make sure it is okay to post it here on the site. I hope it can all work out for everybody interested. I would like to see more utes in the states, as well 2 see that more dimes get to aus.
