#1 Modifing your vehicle in WA??
reuby_tuesday Posted on: 2007/9/6 5:14
To all and sundry

I spoke to Per4manz to day about the plans for Daisy, and how i need to get it all done.

Its not just a matter of getting a engenineer to approve it now. You must submit an application to the DPI before any modifications happen. They then decide if you are allowed to do the mods, and then its only in principle. Even if you do as they ask, they can still knock it back!!

My plan was to visit an engineer, have a coffee and a chat about the plans, go about the mods, in contact the whole time, get his certificate of approval, and go over the pits.

Its not that simple anymore here in WA. The guy at Per4manz said that it only changed about 8 months ago, and most people dont know about it.

Any car that turns up at the pit inspection with modifications that dont have preapproval will be turned away. That what the DPI said when I rang em.

Scary stuff

DOH!

well that spoils a few of my plans - sounds like i'm going to have to find out how to go about submitting and aplication to do the mods that i've already done!!

Thanks for the heads up reuby

link to dotars site about modifications

the link to the form is on the page about half way down, geez is it comprehensive

VSB 14 documentation you should read this as well. its the new national guidelines for vechicle mods, so it possibly applies to all aussies planning stuff.

And to add to the confusion,it's not just WA. We too are coping some grief,it's all about the so called ANTI HOON LEGISLATION Australia wide. There is some good news though, because our 1K"s are Pre-ADR and are not plated as such, they don"t know what is genuine and whats not! As long as you are a bit clever you can get away with heaps.Obviously if you chuck in a race seat you will come undone without approval, but i think you guys know where i"m coming from...Think Clever

Hmmm i'm wondering if i should try my luck with the pits?

sounds like they want this application filled out so they can give you"aproval in pricipal" wich you then take with you when trying to register.

I dont want to fork out for an engineers report if all i need to do is fill out a form.
But also don't wanna get tied up in red tape when all i wanna do is drive the thing!
