#1 How to remove badge?
mikgan Posted on: 2007/9/9 22:48
Hi guys I want to be able to restore the badges on the 120Y, how are they fixed to the body? double sided tape? do they have a plug into the body?

Eventually I'll and to do both the side and back one so info on either would be good.

The side ones each have 2 pins holding them in. Very easy to break.
Rear badge has 2 nuts on the inside.

Post up some pics of ur car I've seen one of the motor going in and it looks insane

So to remove the side ones are you able reach the pins by removing the inside trim?

I've got a thread, thats a little out of date here that has a few pictures. The mounting plate should arive today and maybe this week we can do a proper test fit with the box attached I've just been really lazy, the weather hasnt been kinda and Im still pretty stuffed after installing new kitchen. Maybe this badge stuff is an easy way of getting back into it.

Has anyone here made custom badges before?

I'm really not sure about access from the inside, it would make it a lot easier if you could. The problem is the pins have little metal barbs to hold them in and they rust to the panel. Maybe get some tooth floss or fishing braid and work it under the badge until you have identified where the pins are then slide something flat under on both sides of the pins and gently lever them away.
That being said see if you can get new badges from Nissan etc first then you dont have to worry about how the old ones come off

I cant believe I never looked at that thread! top effort there!

I dunno about B210, but on B110 you can reach the pins for the rear badges from the boot. Gently tap them with a hammer (or anything really) and rear side badge come off.

For the side badges I can't reach the pins, but a careful, slow, pry around the edges a bit at a time and you might be able to get them off in one piece (mine came off intact).

They aren't really barbs on the badges, they are barbs on the little inserts that go into the hole, then the badge into that. But they tend to stick together.

you can access the 120Y coupe badges from the inside trim but as Tyrie said, the little pins on the inside have like a metal sleeve thing that breaks the pins off.... but i think the backs are flat enouhg to us some badge tape. there is a special foam tape for badges you can get which should work.

to break the double sided tape/sikaflex or whatever you can just use a length of fishing wire and pull it through side to side.. cant help with the pins though...
