I have always used Castrol. Seems to work well with Datsuns. I even think it is the recommended oil (at least in Chilton manual).
btw the weight I use is 20w50. There is my 2 cents worth.

I agree. Nothing wrong with Castrol.
What I normally look for is if the oil is turbo approved. If it is, then it is more than good enough for all my NA cars that I have.
Turbos put alot of stress on oil.

I use Engen 15W 40. It is a mineral oil that we get here in South Africa and apparently the licencing is as follows:
Engen is owned by Mobil and Mobil is owned by Pertronas.
Engen is turbo approved and also suited for multivalve engines.

This may sound cheap but I just throw in what ever is on special at the time in 20w50 weight. 90% of the time its castrol any way.

My engine has evolved into a SELF SERVICING unit buy adjusting its own clearances in the rear main seal and dumping the excess oil onto my garage floor. So it gets topped up with fresh oil regually. I would fix the problem but thats evolution for ya

I always use castrol in my CA but RPM performance centre just did a test on some NULON friction modified products on a chassis dyno, same day, same car, same ramp speed etc and it actually made more power! It is a little more expensive but it does seem to do the trick.

Cheers. Adam.

When I had the old tired A10 in daisy, i used a shell oil, called 'older engine' engine oil. Its comes in a red bottle. Its supposed to have addivitves to help tired engines last that bit longer. It wasnt any more expensive than standard stuff.

Otherwise, i have always been a penrite fan, jst cause I suppose.

In the race car I use the cheapest fully synthetic brand.

10w30 oil they r lite an rev fast u don,t want a heavy oil oil like 20w-50 unless itr,s a bit flogged out!! then go the the thicker oil. I find the lighter oil oil fine an it helps MPG!! Read cheaper 2 run!! but everybody has there fave!! In my 350 HQ I ran pennzoil streetmachine oil @ 20-50 it loved it, big heavy always overreved no stress showed on the bearings ever!! so try a few an make yr own choice!! enjoy!!
