aney thing is possible if you throw enough cash at it and yes it would be verry unique
i gues the hardest part would be working out what gear box to use and having a bel housing adaptor made for it

you would have to think why?? its going to cost a bucket load and really what are you going to get out of it (a gutless engine) you may aswell go somthing more powerful

hey mate,

there was a thread on this a couple months ago. it was pretty much decided that it would be a great engine. there is alot of parts avaliable from japan for them. The only problems was the ignition and gearbox, so if this one has the multi point there is only one real problem. I say go for it. I think it is lighter than the a series as well.

cheers

it may be a bucket load but who in the world would have one :) also there not that gutless and its modern more reliable then an a series and yeah gear box is where i am abit worried but a custom bell housing might do it

Micra engine is a great engine. They are extremely restricted in the micra with 2 catalitic restrictive exhaust, restricted inlet etc. Good gains are to be made in this area. Just do a search on the available aftermarket options for these cars in the UK.

The engine is very reliable and revs hard. To look at it is a scaled down sr20.

The problem is the dizzy is at the end of the motor and may hit the firewall in a 1200.

But my daily driver micra still going with 200 000 on the clock, 1000 k a week and driven hard.

i belive errol was looking at the micra heads agaes ago but the enigine is very doable as compact providing you can adapt gearbox and dizzy.

They do go hard and are more looked upon as a scaed down version of the old suzuki gb13 gti motors.

Groupe e cams and cam timing with ecu and free flow inlet and exhaust will have no trouble with other cars.

Remember may have less total hp than some other conversions but chances are it may be quicker than some as you could get the power to the ground more easily.

Hey unfamilia thank goodness its not the case. They are are not a scaled down version of suzuki at all but as mentioned the SR20 but with the ga16 head design :) even better than the suks!. They are available in the same sizes as the suzuki G series twin cam and actually even bigger.
The micra is available in a twin cam 1.4 litre in the last years where suzuki g series dont have a true G series based twin cam above 1.3 unless you use the sohc g16 block and swap the heads to make a hybrid which is going backwards as the sohc 16v g series is better in valve sizes and port shapes.
Also the only solid crank version (no hollow mains) remains the 1.3 versions.

The micra is a bullet proof engine that as mentioned with xhausts mods will match and even outdo many similar 1.6 engines. With boost now some are almost hitting 300hp and increasing. NA race version hitting over 10k rpm all day and speedway adopting them soon they are special.

The main thing to remember is that datsuns are light and the running gear to be replaced should be the same. At around 80kg dressed and under that in race trim how can you go wrong?.
