I suppose it depends whether you want it to be legal or not.
13BT = Illegal in most states, but truly awesome to behold. 4AGE = Legal, but with heaps of stuffing around to fit into a 1200. CA18DET = Legal, heaps of info & conversion parts available. And - HEAPS OF FUN. Go the CA18 mate

Remember what I wrote previously.
We are unlimited here in ZA. Easy power and light weight = 13BT. Insane power. Why don't you keep it original with some throttlebodies? Don't forget, power is nothing without handling and good brakes.

Im a bit biased because I'm running the toyota 4agze, but I did a lot of research and I think it is the best as far as weight/power/economy and access to parts are concerned. Ok it's not as powerful as a rota but it is much better on fuel (and how much power do you need) and it is a lot lighter than the CA or SR and I've found parts (in NZ) very easy to get. with the motor being rebuilt and running a T3/T4 turbo I should be looking at 210 - 230kws which is heaps and it will still drive in traffic.

I totally forgot about fuel economy.
The 13BT is definately going to be a killer with fuel economy. 4AGE will be a better option then.Not as much power as the rotary but definately better fuel economy and still good power for it's size.

However, it's always good to be different too... Have a look at the pics in my profile, and you can see the whole build... I did the 4AGZE with turbo...

I talked the other day to a guy that installed a rotary in his bakkie.
Naturally aspirated 13B with a 52 Weber carb. The apex seals cost him R9000 (ZA Rand) for good quality ones. With that kind of money you can rebuilt a 4agze I would think, TWICE.

Geesh for R9000, if you go to the importers and bargain with them, you can buy two 4AGZE's or 3 NA 4AGE's.
I bought my engine, opened the tappet covers to check for excessive rust, found nothing other than a little surface rust. I then removed the sump to fit the turbo return, and wiped out the surface rust as much as I could. That's the extent of the work I did on the engine. The engine runs like a dream, and doesn't use any oil at all. Point is, you don't have to open it up or rebuild it, just look for a nice engine in good condition, with not to much oil on the outside. If you buy a 4AGZE no need for forged pistons either, and the same goes for the turbo'ed CA/SR Nissan engines. If you have a mega budget, and really want to be different, go for the rotary, otherwise go for the CA/SR DET or 4AGZE engines...

i got a ca ute (common as bums) but a mate of mine had a 4agze ute with upgraded supercharger more boost and a few other mods, my ca has WAY more top end and its basically stock.
id be heading the rotor option myself, they make CRAZY power so long as you can get it on the ground (without regulations im sure you could tub it) id personally not want a rotor but i have alot of respect for em and if your chasin power from small cubes you cant beat em You can view topic.
