12" rims with big arse tyres is shocking for handeling aswell
so to keep 12's your gonna loose ability to put decent brakes, ability to get decent tyres to put the power down and have horrible handeling from massive and soft tyre walls that flex all over the joint......
it's gonna be an american car.... all go nothing else
definately get 13's on there at least
plenty of hub craps to choose from

on a 1k or 1200 12" rims look more in propotion, but on a 120Y they don't look right... if I groud the caliper I could have 14' alloy rims all round - but I'm not going to have an unsafe car - even a farm hack... but as 14's fit on the back they will stay there - at lest I get all my stash of 12" rims (about 8 that need new tyres on them) 4 of which are going on The Defect III if anyone hasn't noticed I'm NOT an lover of 12" rims but I'm not going to drive an unsafe car either!

What brakes do you have?? lol I'd rather drive a car with cooling fins trimmed off the calipers than drive a in a rusted out shell.

that didnt make sence to me either....sounds like you have 14s on the rear and 12s on the front as 14s dont clear the brakes that doesnt really work and you would have to have fairly large brakes for the 14s not to clear

Hey tyrie
I like you idea about using wheels and hubbies off something else. I cant believe I didnt think of that. If i can find something like that I might ditch the mags, and go for that. It would suit the granny spec look better.
Since I am using a R31 rear axle with standard brakes, I have to go to 14" i am pretty sure since 13" wont fit over the brakes.
Anyone have ideas what datto came with 14" rims that has an old type hubcap??
I get the feeling that 14" is too big for old style rims.

Use 14" pintara stockies and get some toyota crown hubcaps or similar, just look on ebay for hubcaps to get ideas.

Hey mate I have r31 rear brakes too, had to trim the fins a bit but I'm running 13" jellybeans with 180B hubbies.

Certain 13" steelies have a 'double lip' so that both 13" and 12" hub caps fit. Sounds odd I know... I was at a wrecking yard which had a Sunny with 1000 coupe hubcaps fitted! Yes - they were DEFINATELY 13's.

Which steelies TnPshow? My partner hates her 13" 180b hubcaps, if I can fit the original 1200 hubcaps on her car again she would be very happy and have an absolute mint set that were on her car originally.

the cooling fins that you tak about, are they the backing plates that sit between the disk and the axle??
what bit did you trim?
I was actually considering actually leaving them off.
