It is a 1962 Datsun U320 Ute. Double Cab. Seats 6.
No seat belts though.
Only needs new brakes. Rest is good. Not much rust.
BELOW IS A LETTER I RECEIVED FROM THE EARLY DATSUN CLUB.
www.earlydatsun.comHi there, nice to hear from you.
Thanks for sending the photos of the U320. I saw it listed on eBay a while back, you obviously didn't have much luck with that. There have been a couple of double cabs sold this year on eBay, it might be worth trying again in a few weeks.
It is nearly impossible to put a value on something like a Datsun 320. I own a 1962 320 myself, and I personally think they are priceless, but the reality is that they never sell for large prices. The most I have ever seen a 320 sell for in the 20 years I have been interested in them has been for $6500, which was for a fully restored double cab. The last double cab that I saw that sold on eBay went for $2500. (Which actually sold to someone in England, who spent another $5000 shipping it over there) There is a 1964 double cab for sale at the moment at the public trustee's auction facility at Aspley in Brisbane, which is for sale for $2000. The market for these things is dependant on there being an entheusiast looking for one at the time. These things can literally sell overnight, at high prices, if people are waiting for one to come along. Other times it can take 1/2 a year to sell one.
As much as I would love to see them sell for high prices, realistically, one in the condition yours is in I wouldn't expect to see sell for any more than $2500-$3000 maximum.
Please keep in touch, and if you do sell the vehicle please pass my details on to the new owner.
