Yes, particularly since the 12a is a rotary.

If you mean the A12, then the problem revolves around the sump removal which will be an absolute pain.

To be honest, A12 engine removal is so simple & easy that it's really the lesser of the two evils, & once it's out & on an engine stand it will be easier to hone the bores as well as remove & refit all of the necessary components.

Probably a good idea to have a serious look at your big end bearings while you're at it & give the valves a seeing to & a nice little laping-in again to ensure maximum compression is restored.

Im sick of hearing A-series sump removal while in car is difficult. Remove swaybar then loosen engine mounts and jack up engine slighty. Hey presto th sump comes off been there done it. way quicker than full removal.

hmmm work under the car or work on a motor thats on a stand hmmmm

and all of Half an hour to pull the engine..

an ACL rering kit comes with Big ends too..

and cheap as chips..

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I have done this job several times over the years & I have the gear to pop the engine out & a stand to mount it on.
It's not at all difficult & once it's out it's so much easier to strip & rebuild, keeping in mind that this is for more than an oil pan cleanout. For the sake of a gasket or two it is also easier to check the timing chain & hydraulic tensioner. [sometimes the internal spring breaks]

Maybe I'm just old & tired, but crawling around on my back, fiddle-arseing around with little bolts & nuts in tight confines under a jacked up engine, or leaning over a low down engine bay pulling manifolds & heads just isn't fun anymore.
With my engine stand everything is at a comfortable stand up height.

Works for me.

Where can you get an engine stand, or can you make it yourself?
