i know they are fwd but i think they are the better pick out of the normal crowd

i think if its toyota you cant go wrong
ford are made cheap
holden are the same as ford
mitsubiti are ####
nissan are good
hondas are good but pricey
subaroo are good
kia daewoo and protons are not worth a cent

My brother has a AWD one before the ugly headlights version. It's a fantastic car, and purchased for $11,000 with 55,000kms. Spend the remaining $9000 on mortgage or holidays.
It is a total waste of money to buy a new car in the oversupplied second hand car market we have at the moment..

forester for sure. you get all wheel drive, 4 cylinder,its higher which means you can see easy and drive over things in car parks. allsogreat space inside and in the boot and you can tow a car trailer if u need to.

I have one and its been a great car and still is.

8k plus a 500 dollar car gives you 20c per 100klms, no engine rebuilds, no oil drips or servicing except tyres / brakes once in a blue moon and 1.5k in batteries every 6 years.

A tidy and stock R32 GTR road car in silver, black or red pearl. not charcoal or white...sorry Andrew!!

80 % of aussies drive only 40-50klms per day but its just a thought as most cars on our roads with current technology will be an issue when petrol hits 2 dollars a litre and more.

We have to evolve.

With A123 batteries at double the price you would get 250klms with that car. Although the Tesla and some others are truly expensive as they are only the first of their kind this decade, with mass numbers they will be the way to go very soon.

spend 10K on a 2nd hand Subaru Liberty, Camry, Falcon or Commodore, invest the other 10K.

Personally we have an old 2.5K diesel Pajero as a family car, so I would be investing 17.5K, but I understand many peoples egos warp their value judgements to such a degree that they couldnt possibly drive a car they perceived as "old" or "cheap".

Nothing wrong with magnas from about 2000+ either, except that the rear 3 plugs are platinum and front 3 are normal?? always questioned that one as you could make all of them platbnium for service sake. you have to remove intake manifold to get to the rear 3.

I reckon max $15 on the car and sve the rest for rainy day if its your $$4 or leave it in your mortage redraw if not.

D electric cars are not near robust or user friendly yet to consider as a daily family transport yet. And toyota/honda dont tell their prius and hybrid buyers that you have to replace the batteries in 6 years at a cost of $6grand a pop.... false environmetal economy there as making and diposing of those batteries is about as harmful as all the petrol you may have used.

Tesla car you can recylce the batteries and you get 100, 000 mile out of them but i don't know how much the batteries are.
