The crazy thing is that I bought one of these in a Canberra [well Queanbeyan actually] wreckers for $10. a few years back. I didn't have a 1200 back then & when a fellow club member contacted me a year or so later asking me to sell it, I relented & gave it to him. It was pretty tatty & incomplete so it was not all that big a gift. He restored it & installed it on his 1200 car where it does daily duty to this day.
I lost a wheel & gained a great mate, so I know I won on that end of the deal. Of course, later on I bought my sons 1200 coupe & had a chuckle about my 'rash' move, but had no regrets at all. I knew one would show up sooner or later. After turning in at 6am this morning, I was woken several hours later by this friend ringing to tell me of this wheel, after all, what are mates for if you can't ring them with good news. Thanks Ben, it's much appreciated. EDIT It's not actually a GX wheel but instead a factory 'Coupe Option' wheel which is the one I actually wanted anyway.

Well Dartgun is a man among men.
The steering wheel showed up a week back & it was incredibly well packed & it therefore arrived safe & sound. He even found the little pads that fit to the spokes & installed them for me. I wasn't able to do anything with it for a couple of days & when I did, I removed the billet horn button & replaced a damaged plastic part inside the horn mechanism. I then fitted one of my 1000 coupe horn buttons after installing it in the car. Ohhhhh yeah, much better than the small aftermarket sports wheel that I had been using. Now I can see all the instruments & the larger diameter has taken that 'quickness' from the steering & made it even easier to control, therefore, even nicer to drive. The thin rim quickly became a familiar old friend again as I drove the same basic wheel in my 1000 sedan for over a decade. I had forgotten just how good it was. In the final analysis, those clever little Datsun engineers got it right again. Right style, right size, right on, Ohhhhh yeah. Would you agree Ben? ![]()
