I'm happy that you didn't look for inner tierod ends..

They can be upwards of $110 per side. IF you can get them at all.

I actaully asked out of interest at bursons how much all the tie rods would cost:

Inners: $35each
Outters: $25each

but i don't need tie rods i was only asking.

does anyone want to buy a vt commodore?

a friend was borrowing my car today, when the alternator died. He drove it back with the car running off the battery only, and i jumped in to race it to the auto elec's before it ran out of electricity.

Anyway, it eventually did half way up a hill. No worries, i ran back and got the fourby with car trailer to tow it to the elec's. I was half way whinching it on when the wire rope snapped, my car rolled off the trailer and down the hill, veering across woodpark road (commercial area with lots of semi's) and into the back of a parked new v8 ute. The whole side of my car was swiped and the back of his is ute is smashed.

oh yeah, this is after I replaced the water pump last week ($300) and the new alternator is $300. it needs a service too.

I think the 1200 is the new daily.

fun!

Ive been following the battery industry as Im making an EV and not overjoyed on prices of these things here either.

eg. 200amp hour sealed battery 64lbs - 196U$
same as above but bigger size same power - 560AU average

225ahr HD non sealed Lead acid $74 here $240 cheapest

Electric motors 1500U$ here 2600AU$

These things are heavier so I understand but the double for batteries is a joke when shipping in containers is dirt cheap for quantity.

Local prices on Harley parts are a joke, luckily I dont have the inclination to own one but my friends do and basically waste their money even on US sourced parts.

These are datsuns so if Autopro have better prices then at least we have an option. Also try Tuten Auto on Lygon Street Brunswich they beat everyones prices usually and source most things from Malaysia. The owner Tuck could do better with some basic social and manners skills to step up from the dark ages.

And you know what would really make you pissed off? The difference again when you get trade! When i buy something from coventrys over here trade it tells me the list price, often 3-5 times the amount i pay! Weather it be a cheap item or a expencive item!

sheesh- I feel lucky! I got a full set of tie rods for the 1200 at $20 when Rocca Brothers closed down here in SA a while back (and became SuperCrap) they basically threw away all their parts- getting progressively cheaper over a few weeks. We got several full L-series gasket sets for $7 each!

Those were good times! I have that many Lblock timing sets I don't think I will ever run out, I also picked up some cheap clutch kits!

All I know in South Australia is stay well away from REPCO, (rip every poor c**t off)

120 Y Gas front strut inserts [same brand at both stores]:
Repco Bayswater: $220 EACH
East Coast spares Ringwood: $200/Pair
How can they justify over double the price. Sure they probably have higher overheads due to a ritzy new store but hell, what's the point if they can't get any customers??

Not to mention more friendly, old fashioned service at East Coast.
