Anti Diesseling valve

Hi guys.

I have a A12 in my B310. Its currently running a Manual choke carb with a anti diesseling valve. I cant read the code but I assume its a DCG306 ( Manual choke type). The carbs cracked and leaky and has been sealed with epoxy sealents. haha.

I can get another carb for a bargain. Its also a DCG306 but heres the thing, its got no diesseling valve. From the manual I understand the dieseling valve came with the A12 engine. So is this from a A15? If I were to swap it out with this carb, would it work fine? Would the lack of the dieselling valve cause any dramas? what about performance and economy. I tried running a search but could not get what I was looking for.

Most A12s did not have an anti-diesel valve. Only 1973-up, and perhaps not all of those.

So no worries, it will be fine with or without. The only purpose of the valve is to *stop* the engine from running.

You may find that without it the engine may 'run on' a bit after being switched off.

I found that switching to Premium Unleaded fixed that problem quick smart.

It is for Emission Controls. Once they started retarding timing, raising idle and that other emission-control stuff, gasoline engines don't shut off very well. That's why they added the Anti-Diesel valve.

So lower the idle to 600 rpm will usually solve it, assuming there are no vacuum leaks anywhere.

The B110's don't have the wire that goes to the ADV. So I've always just undone the nut, thrown away the needle and reassemble it. So (as said above) you'll be sweet as without it.

Sorry guys, I have another question, I seem to be getting fumes comng into the cabin. Kind smells like burnt engine oil+fuel. But I cant seem to trace the problem. It only appears after reving the enigne a bit harder. could it be a leaking sump gasket? I checked the exhaust manifold, but theres no leak. Im wondering if theres a leak in the exhaust pipe. Anyone have any ideas?

Solving the fuel or exhaust smell problems is difficult. But I eventually solved it in my 1200.

It can be a combination of things. So when you think "I found it", the problem still remains.

Read and study this, then go out and look over your 1200 with a fine tooth comb. Troubleshooting Fuel Smells. My 1200 had every single problem listed -- some a little, some a lot -- which is why it took me so long to figure it all out.
