i thought i'd leave the subject as suicide to get people's attention. a few weeks ago in a brute utes mag i saw a pretty nice lookin ute with suicide doors. i was extremely tempted to do it to my datto just for something different but the amount of work pretty much outweighs the novelty. so i'm asking anyone who might have done it, considered it or just knows the subject to give me their opinion

one of my mates had suicide doors on his RX2 and had a few problems getting it engineered ie. couldn't be done. that's my only experience with them, so maybe he did something wrong or maybe they are just not allowed, I don't know but damn they look cool

i even thought about gull wings but that would definitely blow my budget. they are street legal, seen heaps done in mags. never seen it in person i don't think, well not for the last few years

yeh but just because it's done heaps and is in mags doesn't mean it's legal. my old forester sat 50mm off the ground and had all sorts of brake upgrades and lots of cool bits in the engine bay but it was in no way legal.

By suicide doors do you mean gullwing or flip-up scissor type doors (Countach-style doors)?

In USA "suicide doors" means door that have hinges on the back edge, and open opposite of modern doors. It would be 'suicide' to open them on the higway. Those kind would be cool for a 1200 too.

dd the suicides hes talking about are the ones hinged at the back of the door. in my opinion suicides only look good on 4 door cars and having it only on the rear. but thats just my opinion, i would love to see a 4 door 1200 with rear suicides.

Yes that would be cool. When I was a teenager my dad had a black '64 Lincoln Continental 4-door with rear suicide doors. Like this one except his didn't have 18" wheels:
