the flip up doors or scissor doors can range anywhere from 500 for a kit to a good quality kit+install for around 5g.. all depends on quality and if you install them yourself or not

i dont think they really suit the era of the 1200 but i reckon suicides would look pretty sick

I would think to get suicides street legal, you would have to have some kind of locking mechanism that does not allow the door to open when the vehicle is moving...

eg.

Mazda had to make the rear doors on the RX8 unable to be opened without the front doors being open. With the mini doors on the rear, this was no big deal for them.

When BMW designed the new Rolls, the suicide doors had to be locked by the engine management system, and they will not open unless the car is stationary. Similarly, the car cannot be driven if the rear doors are open.

If they make OEM manufacturers do this, then I guess something similar would apply for modified cars??

alot of early rods have suicide doors and they dont need any locking system but maybe thats only legal because they came standard like it

from what I understand (one of my old workmates was secretary for the qld hot rod club) hot rods do not have to meet the normal registration criteria that you and I have to. they re self regulated registration and therefore 'get away' with certain things that would not normally pass.
