I finished installing my new cam in the daily driver last night, drove it to work this avo on its maiden voyage after doing hot lash adjustment and its got no power what so ever, considerably less power than it ever had before.

Do you think the cam is retarded too much?

Its a stage 3 cam will get specs tomorrow as they are at home but I do not need different lash pads as its a brand new cam ground off billet stock. The cam sheet also says that stock valve springs are sufficient.

I think I need to go buy another timing gasket set a dial indicator and cam wheel and have another go.

I can advance the cam another 8

The 'dwell' is controled by the point gap & the points are opened & closed by the distributors cam, not the engine cam, so the dwell angle should be totally unrelated. The timing, however, is a different matter.

I do remember that dwell effects timing and not vice versa, but thought might be worth mentioning.

Ahh well, i'm going home to sort this thing out.

Cheers!
