#1 A14 Build-Up
Shades Posted on: 2008/1/23 3:30
Greetings All!

I am wanting to do a mild build-up to my A14. I would like a few things, new or used.

Preferably 4-2-1 header but a 4-1 would work fine.

Carb and intake for a 32/36 Weber w/ electric choke.

Mild but over-stock cam.

Electronic Distributor.

More is wanted, but the listed items would get me FAR into what I want to do.

Links to where any or all are located or email addresses with what You have and how much You want can be listed here or sent directly to me at shades_1970@alliancecom.net.

Thanx everyone

p.s. I am in NW Iowa, 51241...sorry for the omission of my location

Bought a 4 into 1 header off ebay through
jockracing (bills datsun) paid about 260.00(US) looks good but have not installed yet waiting for motor swap this weekend or next.
Kelmo
Edit: btw, it is going on an A12 motor but I think they have a listing for A14.......

Unless you make an intake manifold from scratch you'll need to make an adapter for the weber, be careful the adapter listed in the weber catalog is not the right one.

cams can be gotten pretty easily, dig a little, most places that do custom cams made some for A series long ago.

Electric dizzies are available new for about $100 from any online parts distributor. ie partsamerica.com , and they also have most other parts you might need if they're not race parts.

Those bill's datsun shop headers are alright, you can get a turbo manifold from one of the members for about the same price... something to think about.

Thanx...

I was unaware that there wasnt a 32/36 intake made for the A14. I have seen pix of the Engine with one...Must have been a custom, huh? Bummer...

I am not looking to build a "radical" A14, but do want to build a strong running pump gas driver.

I have also seen pix of a single side-draft Weber setup...Custom?

If I cant find some decent parts for a build-up...I might just swap in a Chevy 2.8 V6, but I dont want to risk not being able to fit a Chevy Manual trans, beefier springs all around, big rearend, huge radiator...etc...

I want to build on what is there and make it ALLOT of fun!

Side draft intakes exist for single or dual carbs.

upgrading the suspension and brakes to handle the power and weight isn't hard, swapping in a 200SX rearend isn't impossible.

putting a heavy engine in will make it only good for going fast in a straight line.

Someone may have made a custom intake for the 32/36, most people ( myself too ) just made up an adapter plate for it rather than go through all that extra work.

if you get a 32/36 get a NEW one, not a used/ rebuilt one, otherwise you'll end up with 40 year old carb problems, that never seem to get completely solved.
