No the alternator light does not come on, and it was a new wiring loom about 10 yeras ago, but I'bve only travelled about 20,000klm or 8,000 miles so it may not be the wiring, but I will check and I will check out the regulator as well, thanks guys for all the tips!

I've had the brushes in the alternator wear out twice.
The charge light came on intermittently when this happened.

I run a Sigma one on mine... not sure of the exact details, but it's higher output than the 1200 one, and a bolt on fit

What model sigma? Or are they all the same?

i run an internaly regulated xf falcon alternator, 1 hour job to cut down bracket with a hack saw or 2 mins with an angle grinder to make it fit, pulley is at the right spot to, in line with the other 2

i used the alternator off a Z24 from a navara, it's internally regulated & has a larger pulley on it than the standard one. This slowed the alternator down, which was important as it was a race engine.this meant the alternator did not burn out. Went straight onto the later a series alternator casting & the alternator arm lined up too. No grinders needed.

Hey guys im replacing my Lucas alt with an XF falcon alt. I have 3 cables, one that goes to the battery which i have no problem with.

Can someone tell me which terminal the light goes on on the xf alternator?

Also i had stuff running off the Acc + terminal on the lucas, what terminal would that go on on the XF alt?

The Navara is 1 Tonne utility, it's model designation is D21, was available between 1986 until about 1992, when it was replaced by a D22. I'm sure that if you could find a Nissan commercial with any of the Z engines (Z20-Z24), either a utility or a van, either a vanette or an urvan, you could probably find the alternator would be usable.
