has given me a day of problems yet. So yes I have seen some real crap parts before, but I really don't mind buying Chinese parts. That's if I could hold it in my hands and give it a thorough inspection first, to make sure that at least visually they look like they stand up to the job, and they feel like they will do what they were meant to do.

I have bought and seen crap Japanese so called performance shops work and some of the so so quality chinese stuff crapped all over it.


i know of one evo 3 that had repeated overheating issues, chinese alloy radiator fixed it where as 2 so called jap performance radiators did nothing.

i can name atleast 10 places,buisnesess,performance shops that go to china to buy parts that didnt pass QC and buy in bulk bring back sometimes fix the problems sometimes sell as is
i dont care what any1 says cause i seen this with my own eyes

and we have owned a shop for over 40 years and over that time learnt who does this and who dosent and we never use again
only this time the smart ass ebay ripoff deleted his account and made a new 1 so couldnt do anything about it


dont get me wrong some work is realy realy good

for example
exhaust manifolds

tune length,stainless steel beutiful welds everwhere i took to exhaust shop and turbo shop and they say they couldnt make for under $1000 and is a work of art
i was happy till i bolted on and was between 1mm and 3mm warp accross flange where bolts to head
after all the good work gone into it they couldnt give a surface grind on the flange

no machine shop could clamp it to machine so i had to make a jig for the machine shop just to clamp the bastard still waiting to get it back

also
had to re drill stud holes

weld new lip on outer edge so bolt has meet to grab

make and weld manifold to a custom made jig

get a surface grind

brace the whole thing tidy

have to cut the manifold off the jig as the only way to make it was to weld the manifold to the jig

weld new turbo flange as it was warped aswell

the pipes are to big for ports so custom inserts were required

id rather get a fab place to make a short style manifold (non tune length)out of steam pipe or steal
same price i paid for chinese crap without all the above extra labour

a well known turbo shop near me said he had a customer with same problem
he sent back 6 times everytime a new manifold after that he gave up and made a custom job
the machine shops i got quotes off all told me my problem before i even explained it as it is a very common problem

qc happens every 100 or 1000 or what ever
aussie fab places qc every single thing in stages cause they dont want it comming back and want the customer happy

china dont give a ####
they just put in the good pile or the bad pile
either way they all get sold regardless of the quality


every1 should name ripoffs
maybee even start a new thread so people dont make the same mistakes as others

and if i did i would take it back
whats the name of the fab shop you had trouble with???

fair enuf maybee a surface grind here and there

but if a paid for a job and had all the problems i listed above i would have every rite to take it back or to go to consumer affairs if i couldnt get my money back even take the matter to court

never in 40 years in buisness have i had a manifold made from scratch
and the bolts dont line up
and the rest of the #### i listed on top of it

maybee a prob here and there but not every problem possible that can go wrong

when you drop ya car off to get a manifold made
i cant imagine the fab shop saying
you owe me $300 for the manifold but sorry it dont fit so i couldnt put it on

My custom made steampipe manifold had a massive warp on the flange, and some impressive slag in the runners.

A mate of mine bought a $120 turbo manifold off ebay, all shiny etc but needed heaps of work fixing pinhole leaks etc. That being said it hasnt cracked like everyone said it would.
