Keeping your car all Nissan is always nice but not cheap. The Borg Warner diff is a strong one, The supercharged V8 Datto runs one!! LSDs are easy to find all the Falcon utes seem to have them. They are found under almost all the Falcons and some Commodores, Valiants had them to as did the Aussie market Skylines and Pintaras (I believe). Get your tape measure out and go hunting. The diff has a long and short axle so with a bit of mixing and matching you may find you can save some dollars on the axle shortening. Also the diffs came with optional disc brakes which is a bonus. I built a Rover V8 powered MGB a few years back and fitted a Borg Warner to that. It has been rolled, bowled and arseholed and the diff is still going strong. I found out completely by accident that the axle splines of the MG were the same as the Aussie Borg Warner so the car ended up with its original axles and brakes and no one is any the wiser. The MGB bolt pattern is the same as Datsun/Nissan as well. They may be a solution to the short axle problem.

Hi Sterlingmac, What is the Pintara? The Pintara I am used to does 180+ MPH with a 351 small block Ford mounted in the back seat to a 6-speed ZF transaxle. The real hot rod. I have never seen two Pintaras alike. At a Ferarri show, all of them were lined up by models and they all looked exactly the same. There must be another Pintara that you are talking about.

The Pintara was an Aussie only model, it was a 4 cylinder Skyline I think. The Skyline wasn't sold in the States either was it? I had to smile when I read your letter, you are a little confused the V8 supercar you refer to is a Pantera made by De Tomaso in Italy and sold through Ford dealerships in the States. The engines were 351 cu in Clevelands. My girlfriend has an Aussie built GT Falcon with the same motor in fact the electronic distributor came out of a Pantera in Texas. In her car with a 4 speed Toploader, 140mph is acheivable but only on closed roads officer!!

I can be such a big dummy sometimes, after I posted that, I realized the difference. Most of the Pantera's that I have seen have the Windsor small block motors in them, only a few have had the Cleveland motor, same as the GT-40. They made the GT-40 before the first Cleveland motor was built in 1968. The Windsor motor is much quicker and weighs lots less. The Cleveland is heavier duty and has more torque for heavier cars. Both have the 4 inch bores.
