I'm looking to upgrade the front and rear suspension in my 74 B210 4door with the A13 engine.

I was wondering what to use for front struts, and brakes, and appropriate tire sizes as well. since i'm looking to get a heavier front suspension with better brakes.

Also, for the rear suspension, the leafs, would anything fit from something else thats heavier, or would i have get custom leafs made.

If you have a 1974 B210 with an A13 engine, then you must be in the USA

It's probably a good idea to include your basic profile so that later on you wont have to keep telling people that ask.

If I remember rightly, the US B210 used brakes that are slightly larger than the 1200 & I do not know if the 1974 model used the full US front suspension that I believe later models did. Something different about them.
I'l just sit back & wait for some of our US mambers to kick in & perhaps I can learn something.

Over here there is a lot of stuff available for our version of the car, known as the 120Y & unlike the US it came only with the A12 [1171cc] engine.

You should be able to have your rear springs reset to the new ride height by a local spring works.

For interests sake, there were two different A13 engines. Yours is the first of the new generation 'tall deck' or stroker engines. It still retained the smaller 73mm bore of the 1200 engine but a new 77mm stroke.

There was another A13 that appeared in the Asian "Sunny" B310 [equal to the US '210'] This one was based on the low deck engine & used the shorter 70mm stroke of the 1200 engine but had a bore size of 76mm.

If you don't already know, your chassis will accept the later A14 & a15 engines straight in
A14 = A13 but with 76mm bore
A15 = A14 but with longer 82mm stroke

Right. All the same upgrades for B110 apply to B210, except of course upgrading to B210 brakes is already done at the factory.

<-- use the wiki, it is your friend

Sorry guys, located up in Canada, but the car seems to have been out of the states as it's all in MPH, rather than KPH.

Anyways i'm looking more for a better brake upgrade, as i already have an engine in mind for the swap i'm looking to do. Got to love friends with a spare engine/transmission *grins* and in stock trim should be putting out about 200hp at the crank so i'd like a b it better stopping power than the "little" pads/ solid rotors i have on there now!

and i'll definitely check out wiki as well!

With 200HP you'll want to head directly to the 280zx / Wilwood brake upgrade...

I know I always say that, but i stopping is more important than going.

agreed stopping is more important....

but i leave my "insane" driving to the track, I have a 550+hp late model stock car (similar to nascar, raced on smaller tracks, and less money involved.) I'm just looking for a bit more "punch" to boot around town in, that and the "HOLY ####" look on my friends face!

i'm doing this on a budget build type deal, and even though the canadian dollar is on par with the US pretty well (last time i heard) might get a little to expensive going that route.

Would the 280zx upgrade alone be sufficient.

Also saw the S13 brake/suspension upgrade as well. I'd have to source a few parts from over seas as i highly doubt any could be found here (the B110 parts and such)

any of the non 210 brakes are better, there are ways to do it using 240z struts, stanza ones work ( with a bit of futzing ) S13 works, 240sx works

you can use the 280zx brakes you don't have to change them out.

doing that is pretty cheap, get 81 280zx turbo struts from wrecker $150, change spring perches to fit 210 springs. away you go... could be done easily under $500 and probably less.

all the parts are available in the us, I didn't have to order anything for my strut conversion anywhere out of the states.

wait 150$ for 2 struts from a turbo 280zx what wrecker do you use? here that would be less than 100$ most likely!

spring perches? top and bottom correct? and just use the stock B210 springs i take out?

$150 was a worst case price, I think I paid somewhere around $100 -150 but these are jacked up los angeles prices.

yes take the 210 perch off the 210 strut weld it on to the other strut at the proper height, use the 210 spring and top.

the 280zx turbo has the biggest rotors, the non turbo's are a bit smaller, then the S13 rotors, then the smaller non vented 240z ones...

you'll need 14" wheels to fit easily, but Z wheels are cheap and plentiful.

That'll give you about 2x the braking power you'll ever need.

ahh yea, prices here aren't to bad, it's just finding them at the wreckers....seems to be a hit and miss when you go!

and awesome! just the info i was looking for!

on a side note, would i need to upgrade the brake booster or master? i have a low pedal already as it is (thinking leak in the master not sure....)
