H165 & R160 diff's - interchangable parts?

I've been lead to believe that a lot of the parts for these two diffs are inter-changeable i.e. crown wheel & pinions along with the LSD unit's.
Can any confirm or comment on this? Looking forward to your replies. Brent

mmm, dunno about the CW/P..The R pinions are stupidly long.
the internals of all those hitachi based LSD's are essentially the same, so you should be able to use a R160 LSD centre (or at least some of the parts) in a H165... I can use R200 clutch plates in the H190 LSD centers for example BTW, it was my Diff went bang off the line in the second race...Should be physically impossible to break a H190 with a 2 litre engine!!...grrrr...stupid fragile low ratios....

"R" series diffs. are for independent rear/front suspension.
"H" series diffs. are for solid rear axle rear suspensions. the number, as in R160, is the inside diameter of a given ring/crown gear. from what I remember from my time working in a dealer, there isn't much interchangeable between the 2 types. maybe small parts and some bearings. it would be kinda hard to fit a 160mm gear to something designed for a 165mm gear.
