Steering Wheel Swap - hows it work?

Hey everyone. I want to take the steering wheel from my Datsun sunny (part car) and change it with the wheel in the 120y. I could probably work it out with enough wrongful unscrewing and unneeded bashing. Could someone please give me some quick steps on how to do it.

Thanks, Daniel.

I think you will find that the steering wheel from the Sunny won't fit the 1200.

The 1200 and 1000 have a different "smaller" spline. 1600s have a common one that interchanges with all of the mid-sized models of the 70s. I was looking at making a new top section for my steering column so I can fit 1600/Z car steering wheels on, but it's easier to buy a "boss kit" and buy an aftermarket wheel.

Whatever you do, don't "bash" the steering wheel or column. The collapsible ones are only held in by 4x 3mm nylon pins in the middle of the column, they sheer off very easily, it will leave you steering wheel with movement in it, when you pull it up and down. These pins once broken can only be fixed if you have a molten nylon injection machine, The column is hardened steel, so drilling or tapping the column back together, is not possible.

Try and make up a extraction plate by using the 2 bolt threads in the 1200 steering wheel (Under the cover).

Basically be careful, and I'm not sure that you'll be able to swap the wheels anyway.
