The advice from Bert couldnt have summed it up better.
People say they want track days yet would never attend any of them every weekend. Cruise = a tank of fuel. Track day = tyres, fuel, entry, breakages, insurance etc etc. If people cant make it to a cruise they arent going to attend to a race day imho Like the initial callout for interested members i had 25 people from Datsun1200 who said they were interested in being part of a club. Those members make up less than 20% of our club. ( We have 52 full members) If we had a real commitment we could incorporate these days. A great example is that besides Trents car I cant even get a 1200 for a static display for event like the Hot Rod Show and Jamboree. Chris, Trent, Sean, Bryan and Josh fly the flag hard for the 1200 boys but the lists stops there. I would say join the club and contribute some ideas to make the club better for everyone. Lastly 22 cars is a huge achievement and the largest datto cruise ive seen. So congrats to the organisers. Buzz cheers on the DVD.

I think the prospect of a track day with cars you are familiar with is exciting. I would be fairly intimidated going to a day where my car would hold up others on the track, whereas with friends from the club it would be just good fun.
Like Derek said it does cost extra money over and above a normal cruise (tyres, brakes, insurance, etc) and for that reason it's not a common thing to do. Therefore I would prefer to do that one off track day with other friends/like cars. I am starting to warm to the drags though and really enjoy the grudge match it can provide. I work right next to Willowbank and drive my datto to work every day so if anyone is going out that way let me know I'm always keen. As for static displays I don't think my car is in a state for a static display otherwise i would have it at every one available. Bryan

A note for those in Qld. not aware of motor sport cost for a 2 day event are as follows(approx)
12 months affiliated club membership $60-120.00 Level 2 cams license $90.00 annual 2 day sprint entry $120.00-160.00 These are the outgoings for an registered or un registered car and driver. Personel expenses, fuel, food etc. is what you need to spend to enjoy yourself. You obviously need a legal crash hat and basic safety gear Edit:At a single car or multi car super sprint you are racing the clock and not each other as such,it's virtually impossible to come into contact with another car

or you could do it at QR who don't use CAMS, the costs are:
AASA licence $20/day or $55/yr entry $90-120 a bit more affordable if you're just doing the occasional event. QR is boring as far as racetracks go, but its a good place for beginners. I can almost guarantee you QPDC can't afford to hire a track just for club members. if 20 is considered a big turnout for a cruise, you've got no chance of getting enough cars to make private track hire viable - around 60. You'll need to go to an existing event. QR's Saturday Afternoon Sprints will put newbies in their own group so they don't feel under pressure about holding others up. That's a good starting point. There's one on this Saturday, but I'm unsure of the next one. personally I doubt how many would actually be interested in a track day. There's no shortage of events around, but I can't think of any QLD people still active on the site who actually do and motorsport apart from Bert, Matty and myself - and I haven't done an event in the Datto since last November. I've done a few in the Supra though.

And don't forget Cameron(won his class at Gatton)
So there you have it from Harry and myself,as a matter of interest in my capacity as an organiser of one of the associations in Qld.Morgan Park will require approx.$4000.00 per day to hire if the promoters are in a reeely good mood

That was my plan. go to an event that all realy going as i dont think, at this point of time, we'll get enough numbers. The first one will most likely be a arvo at the drags and we will go from there. I work at the drags and i believe there will be more cars interested. Remenber its our club so get invloved and lend a hand if u can.
Next year QLD will be holding the datnat at Morgan Park and i hope that all people will be up for the weekend, including u fellow race car drives. When this gets close is when ill be looking at going a Morgan park. So keep a look out. Trent You can view topic.
