Is the earth and power to the injectors good ? You may have done something bad when those wires were shorted out. Is there any fuse for the injectors ?
Maby spray a bit of aerostart into the intake and see if it fires on that if it does then its a fuel problem for sure.

Run an extra earth to the engine block from a chassis rail. These motors love being earthed well. Mine had similar intermittent starting issues until I ran an earthing kit around the engine bay.

Also check on nissansilvia.com and you will find a complete list of fault codes for the ECU and how to put it into diagnostic mode.

Get new plugs. Sometimes they can look clean and good but are actually no good. Particularly because they will have burnt the oil away the first couple of times they fired. A good spark out of the engine isn't always a good spark with compression.

There is a $3.50 NGK plug that works that I have always used. You can commit to $25 a pop iridiums but you may not need them so you may as well just the cheapies to rule another thing out.

Do a search around the place. I know I've listed their part number somewhere before.

Even though you have mentioned that you checked the resistance of the CAS with no abnormal results and that you haven't changed any of the CAS settings, have you checked what the base timing is with a timing gun?

I had an issue with getting my CA started that was due to the CAS being waaaay out even though it hadn't been touched.

It's going to be pretty hard to check the base timing when it doesn't run.

if it turns over he should be able to get a reading - its not going to be perfect but its going to give a pretty good indication.

Sweet guys - got a list of things going to try on weekend after I source some generic plugs.

Motor has got heaps of new earth leads fitted but will look at injector circuit again and if have no joy will pull injectors out and have a look.

Perth ute will be intouch next week if I need that spare ECU or try my ECU in your ute.

Cheers guys.
