those water pipes would be easy to fix. I've been interested in these little engines, more the CG13DE but there is bugger all info around that I can find. It's all turbo stuff. There was talk on here of a guy round Pukekohe or Clevedon or somewhere that had a CG13 in a 1200 coupe with Motec and apparantly good for 165 hp but I've never seen or heard anything else about that beast. Sounds damn fine for a baby class engine to me but I guess you need more than that to beat a hayabusa powered starlet which is the fashion nowadays!

People keep saying that the shorter the stroke, the higher the engine can rev and therefore will have more performance. Of course it is not absolutely true, only conditionally true.

By this reasoning, the A10 should be the best A-series engine of all, as it has the shortest stroke.

its more about being "oversquare" rather than just having a short stroke. Where the bore is large and stroke short. Getting the bore closer to length of stroke means it can rev higher, aka "oversqaure". Get where im coming from?

Cheater5 the outlets are a piece of pie as you can tap into an alternaticve outlet on the front of the inlet manifold side.
The waterpump pipe can easily be bent to 90 degrees and shortened.

The reason i have interest in the CR10de is the 1ltr capacity with ultra efficient technology and a possible alternative for a motorbike engine. Also a great choice for Under 2ltr sports sedans or under 2ltr improved production classes where a 1ltr can be boosted.

DD the A12 is the first A series with 5 bearing crank so its the choice engine for low capacity performance.

front cover is shown in small pic easy to tap water outlet there too

Serena is just a newer Vannette:
C20: Sunny Cab/Vanette
C23: Serena
But Serena had large engines from 1.6 liter to SR20DET... how does the CR10/CGA engine relate to Serena?

Right. So this is far more important than short stroke or bore/stroke ratio. Additionally: A 1.2 liter undersquare engine will beat a 1.0 oversquare engine every time, all else being equal except for bore/stroke ratio. But a 1.0 oversquare has some advantage over 1.0 undersquare engine, I wouldn't expect more than 1-3% advantage, but perhaps it is just a fraction of a percentage.

In the end the Golden Rod Rule still is true: More CCs is the most important performance factor.

greendog youll have to get it adapted to rwd. Serena has no extension housing for stick shift in the right place.
Are you looking for economy and some performance?
I suggest a corolla 5 speed box using its bellhousing weld a slice of the engines original bellhousing, this box is plenty tough and easier to find.

toyota box would b good strength and weight wise.i want power and minimum wieght so less power needed.and i dont wanna cut the #### out of my tunnel either my theory is with this engine the finished car would still be pretty light (under 800kg?) and making 100kw atw.using lightwieght box, stock diff smallest brakes possible that will stop me still?.can mount the engine as close to the firewall as i can to keep the wieght back.engine availability also is inviting all just thoughts atm i tossing between boosted efi a15,4agte or this.mmm any more ideas?i really want boosted a15 but when i start calculating a realistic price its not the best option i think.

I would also suggest for lightweight 70kg 1.6 and 125hp out of the box a daihatsu detomaso HD motor, comes with stainless headers and so many cams available aftermarket for over 170hp. Would be perfect with LPG and a yota box adapted.
