Curse my infernal indecisiveness. Now I want to go back to doing an L series conversion. Saves all the worry about breaking 60 series 5 speeds. Solves any power to weight issues I may be concerned with. Sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t fcuk sh*t..... Sh*t.

BANG!

Problem solved.

stick new bearings in the boxes & sell them onwards. Somebodies always after a series 5 speeds. Make a small profit on them & invest it in the L18/R30 combo. Also, drop hints at you're new place of business to see if they've got any old gear sets like they used in the Bluebird turbo's, they were made by Holinger.

If you replace the bearings, and perhaps the selector fork roll pins, you shouldn't have any problems with a 60 box. My a15 is supercharged, which means mondo torque. Like I said, I was pretty brutal to it. I only upgraded to a 63 because I wanted to be able to punish my gearbox WITHOUT any trace of mercy, and I was fortunate enough to score one for $300.

Do they have enough room to double roll pin them? I am still in 2 minds about what to do. I am worried that whatever I spend on the panel van will be a waste if it doesn't end up more powerful than my L18 120Y sedan!

Just rebuilt my standard shift pattern 60L. I use it for road racing and the 3-4 shift fork roll pin sheared.

Yes you can double the roll pins, just what I did for the rebuild.
