I have a A-14 engine in my 1200 coupe. The following numbers are stamped on the BLOCK.

391913

H 72

What do the above numbers mean ?

I also want to identify what year the engine is.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi Webb,

391913 -- if stamped, this is probably the serial number.

H 72 -- if cast into the side of the block, this is the "Applied model" code. H72 means the part was originally designed for the B210 with A14 engine. It could be anywhere from 1974 up to 2007.

First A14 came out in 1975 model year, 1974 calendar year. In USA, A14s were fitted 1975-1982, after that only stationary and forklift A14s.
