Hey dudes,

Are any of you blokes stuffing around with burning your own chips for the CA18? I've just started doing it myself and thought it would be worth asking around in case people had any tips or maps to share etc? I have had moderate success so far but am still in the early testing phase.

I was curious about this too, as I have been 'told' it's pretty straight forward???

Wouldn't mind having a go my self aswell at some stage - Would be good if you could keep us all updated with what you changed and then found during driving.

Dr Drift apparently does a heap of this stuff and I've heard he offers good advise also.

Dave I assume you are using the "Romedit" software?

Yeah I've been using romedit but there is another out there called liveedit that I hear might be a bit easier?

Anybody used liveedit?

Hadn't heard of that one Dave - although I imagine it could be one where you plug a laptop into the socket on your ECU and use the laptop as a EPROM emulator so you can tune with the laptop, then burn a chip when your happy with the settings.

I'm really looking forward to that bit....once that car is running.

A mate of mine has a nistune tool. He's remapped a few ecu's. He made 220bhp on 12psi in his old 510, just by a seat of the pants tune. And another mate of ours S/C ca18, they got 200bhp at 8 or 9 psi. (I cant remember exactly)
If you want some maps I'll ask him then if you like.
He raves about the benifits of using the factory ECU.

I'm a little bit too cautious to do a "seat of the pants" tune so got my hands on a wide band 02 sensor. I'll be doing a little more tuning this weekend probably. Because I'm just fine tuning the standard map for more boost and T25g it's pretty simple.

I'd say it gets a bit more complicated when you start changing injectors and afm's.

I'll keep you all posted. I'm happy to share maps too if anyone wants them.

Oh, By seat of the pants, I mean he had a wideband on there as well.(Doing the data logging thing) I was refering to not using a dyno for the tune. (Just to get the final output reading)
I think he said to change injectors you just alter one of the figures on the table, and the tool alters the injector pulse width accordingly. The supercharged CA had 440cc injectors.

Ah ok yeah I misinterpreted that. I am doing the same thing. The only problem I'm finding with it is that 2nd gear is too short to get a good look at mixtures at certain revs, 3rd gear is ok but ideally you want to be in 4th gear and to get it up in the revs in 4th means some pretty high speeds - like making the news kind of speeds. hmmm
