It's not that hard really. It's only really possible if you can get your hands on a wide band 02 sensor though.

You also need an eprom programmer. Search ebay for "willem" and you'll find what i have. They are pretty easy to use. The rest is freeware.

This is a first for older non-consult ECUs!

You can now view and log RPM, Speed, MAF voltage, O2 sensor, Temperature, Battery, Timing and various switch settings. Diagnostic Terminal Codes can monitored and cleared. You can also perform real time tuning with this board!

This board along with the NIStune software provides consult capabilities (including Diagnostic reporting) and map tracing for non-consult Nissan ECUs

Current price is $400AUD for board, USB cable and NIStune Software (Individual Users License) and documentation set. Additionally, shipping and transaction fees may apply.

it that what u guys use? that comes with software, im guesin thats the software u need

That would be better if you were going to get serious about it. However I got all the bits I need for $50. It's a slow iterative process burning chips and testing then burning more chips then test etc.

I dont know if you are still after anyone who playes with standard CA ecu's but Kev Rowley in Brisbane has gotten some good results from playing with them.

the problem i find with standard ecu tuning is the airflow meter restrictions. i tried with my coupe before going to the aftermarket side of tuning and i couldn't get my car to run right cause of leaks in the blow off valve and other things the airflow meter doesn't see.

if you can sort them all out then i see the benefits but i think you need to have a fairly stock turbo setup.

Dave

I've heard that using an EPROM emulator - you could plug this into the ECU socket and the other end into a laptop.

I even think romeditor might be able to live edit then....not totally sure - as i only planned to look into this stuff when I had the car running.

Here's some plans for an emulator I found thanks to google.

I disagree. My mate was running a bigger turbo without problems. As for air leaks, you'll get problems on a fully stock engine too if things aren't bolted together right.
