setting up a carby can be very hard if your not not familiar with the correct way to tune carbies, and have the right equipment. But there are ways around it of course as mentioned buy a carby that set up for boost, haven't heard of the seirra carby before, but i was told recently that the early model turbo exa came out with a carby, don't know what brand or size. Anyone else heard of this???? I went and spoke to a local mechanic that i know, he speicalises in dynoing carby feed cars, he had a wealth of knowledge on the subject and had all the parts for tuning and fine tuning any sort of carby.

If you go blowthrough with a carbie, use a holley. They have a stouter float bowl gasket. You could twin charge it. You'd probably need to run a hobbs switch to disengage the blower clutch once the turbo was on boost, and also have a throttle body on the supercharger discharge with a central locking solenoid to shut it when the turbo spools up to prevent the turbo boost escaping through the supercharger. Lots of shagging around, but it would be mean as. Also you could overdrive the blower big time, and the turbo would over ride it before it made enough heat to cause detonation problems. PLUS, the extra exhaust generated by the supercharged induction would spool a generous sized turbo far more quickly that would normally be the case.

You can get reed valves made so when the supercharger disenguages there is no need to worry about pressure back feeding into the supercharger. Apparently the toyota superchargers shag the teflon on the rotors over 10psi? Should give some grannys a heart attack or 2.

sounds like a fair bit of work is involved. if i had alot more time i would hav a crack at this but since the car is my daily driver i sorta need the car every day. it would be cool though to be the first person to supercharge and turbo an a series motor.

I'd say more like 15psi, I ran 14psi for ages.
