#41 Re: EOI; Carbon Fibre parts for 1200's

Significantly lighter! Maybe 5kg or so lighter would be my guess.

EDIT: I weighed my original bonnet a while ago - it was 9.6kg.

I asked 120fly to tell me the fiberglass bonnet weight...but I've never heard from anyone the fiberglass bonnet weight.

Carbon fibre should be even lighter than fiberglass.

it depends on how much is actually made of carbon fibre. it may be mostly fibreglass with a carbon fibre layer on the top for looks.
out of interest, will these have spots to mount hinges and bonnet lattch?

this all sounds promising but how does it all go with hinges and bonnet latch?

They arnt an overlay on top of fibreglass... they will be full carbon fibre with a kevlar weave.

the guys have estimated that they will maybe a quarter of the original bonnet weight.

The bonnets will have provisions for bonnet hinge mounts with aluminum blocks placed inside the mould that are already pre-drilled.

Even the carbon fibre dash that we are doing will have all the original mounting points pre drilled
