Hi Guys And Girls. We have put the dash all back in our coupe after replacing a plug and just a general tidy up. What we are getting is when we turn it over it starts but it wont idle unless i hold they key between on and start if i let it spring back to its normal position it just dies. Any ideas ? Coil, Ignition ????

check the ignition switch is doing what its meant to with a multimeter, id also be checking that the wires that go onto the ignition switch are in the right spot.
did you replace the plug with all the ignition wires in it? maybe you got some round the wrong way.

Hey Dude. Nah didnt replace that plug just a main one to the Engine bay harness i have tripe checked it only 4 wires so its all good. At first it wouldnt start just reds on the dash. Then i found some wiring to a kill switch that i had put to one side of the gearbox tunnel flicked it and bang it started but then the above problem.

its ethier the coil resistor or the wiring to the coil resistor. come on have a go u should of been able to work that out
. When u turn the key to start it bypass's this resistor to get maximum voltage to the coil under cranking, but during normal running postion it use's this resistor to maintain no more than 12v to the coil as it would overheat them running at 14v for too long.

That all sounds great Number 1 im not a sparky and 2 i didnt remove any wiring in the engine bay just tidied it up with electrical tape and soldered some wires and covered them with Heat shrink. We removed a resistor type thing but that was for a diverted starter switch as the ignition doesnt always kick it over. Thanks Andrew
