What sort of times have you guys got down the quarter mile? What engines and mods are you running?

if u go ca18det like me and a few other's u can get into 10's 11's bracket really tepending on traction usually..i have a mate who has a ca18edet ute who ran a 11.7 stock turbo with nos take of in 3rd gear hit nos then put it into 4th gear then u over the 400mtre mark cant wait 2 put mine on the strip when im finished!

My A14 run 13.9 in 1200 coupe setup for circuit. I then run 12.8@106 with basically stock CA18det and later 12.0@113 with 220rwhp on street tyres. Last dyno tune it made 260rwhp @18psi when I finally get it al back togther Im aiming 300rwhp @20psi should be good for low 11's on slicks.
Drag racing is quite boring I think sit there for 4 hrs and if your lucky get 3-4 runs give me a circuit pratice day anytime.

I plan on doing lapsprints when I get the driveline sorted. I'm just curious as to how much more bang for your buck you get with the twin cam import motors as opposed to a worked A series. I will be rebuilding my current A14 until I have the funds to build a more powerful engine. I haven't decided what they will be yet though.

To build up any a-series engine to the level of a stock CA18DE or SR20DE (twin-cam engines) would cost more I think. Less expensive to get the twin-cam. However, more fabrication to swap them in. If you are paying, the a-series might be cheaper. If you do the swap yourself, go twin cam.

For you USA club members, if you don't need high RPM, try the KA24DE.

Best swap? Maybe the QR25DE, it's lighter than the SR20, stronger and more powerful. OK, this is theoretical as no one has swapped one into a 1200 yet.

I've gotten my coupe to 16.3's with a fairly warmed up A15...I did get it running better with additional tuning on the Dellorto's, should be 15's, but now I've got the EFI I'm waiting to put on in a month or so. If you want the cheapest speed I'd say go for an engine swap, CA18, SR20, or KA24...but it's also gonna weigh the car down a little more, cause along with that you're gonna need a stronger/bigger diff, radiator, brakes, suspension, etc. Even though I've got a lot of expensive go-fast parts on my A15 I'm still probably gonna do a swap, cause the A15 can only go so far, and I'm going to see just how far too with the EFI and turbo. If/when it gives then it'll be time for the swap I think because $10,000 USD for the Japanese Pitroad A15 is a little far fetched for 150-200 hp.

thers a guy in Christchurch that runs mid 13,s inan A14 powerd 4dr sedan i think that the a series would be better for drag racing unless you have a huge bank acount to build a good import motor into a datsun as i think they are to heavy with the A series you can dial over 200hp out of an A14 with a turbo no probs they are lighter wich means less weight over the nose wich equals mor weight towords the rear wheels
