nah there was a good write up of this with the bluebird turbos in zoom years ago. they used a factory knob and modeed it as a boost controller. They would boost the hell out of it for qualifying, then change the turbo over for the race and moderate the boost accordingly. It was the battery or radio knob or something.

They never got coaught by scretuerneeirng. other mods were done too.

No they never got caught. They just stopped Turbos from running in Bathurst against the V8's anyway. The 007 secret button ay. Or somewhat like the Maxwell Smart Gun in the Biro trick.

As usual, Harry is right, I must have been having a 'senior' moment there.

I have removed the offending parra from the post.

I reckon the 80's were the high point in the ATCC, there were a great variety of makes and models. Which made for good genuine racing...

yep - the good old days! big flares, deep dish wheels, modified production car suspension and stuff all aero made for great veiwing - cars sliding around the whole time, strengths and weaknesses in different areas or at different tracks. 4cyl turbos againt V8s and a mix of sixes, and the light M3s which came into their own in the wet... ahhh...

Farmer George finished 2nd in the 1983 Australian Touring Car Championship, so they were a very competitive car even in normal race trim, and a groundbreaking car in Australin motorsport! And they just look awesome! There's a guy with a replica doing track days up here, but its too high, too soft, and not powerful enough...

O.k So Whats the weight difference between L18 And Ca18 ? Not Ca18DET. Who cares I'm going l series L16 Actually. Nice and simple to work on especially roadside repairs and enough power to build on.
