I considered L16 as wellbut L18 won cause the L16 i found was younger than the car, a no no for engine swaps in vic.

They are of similar power anyway and torque, L16 with a bit of work should rev higher due to (if my memoery is right) slightly shorter storke.

Tassie law is the motor can be later than the car it is going in, but the motor can't be earlier.

I can't imagine why, as long as the engine conforms to all the relevant regulations regarding emissions that relate to the newer model chassis that the older engine is to be used in.

We can now update old engines with PCV systems, modern carb[s] or EFI, & Electronic ignition or even LPG without difficulty, exceding the requirements of an original engine by a wide margin, so where's the problem.

Hell, if we can get an early Hemi or Flathead Ford to run clean, then anything can be fixed.

my engineer asked me what year the L18 I'am putting in was . He said an earler motor transport wont allow it That seams strange you can fit 2008 model motor in a 1970 car but you can't fit a 1969 .mmm.
