for my sunny sr20 i'm planning to obtain a set of r32 brakes fronts and rears 280mm diameter. as i was reading the front r31 struts will suit perfectly the z31 hubs so that i can use the 5 studs breaks. on the rear i am going to obtain a hilux 3.9 lsd diff which also run on a 5 stud bases same lenght between the studs of the z31.

as an engine i ve got an sr20det gtir which i m gonna couple with an s14 gearbox.

i will add pictures later. if u got any suggestion on the ideas. the project is still under changes.

Have had a chat to a few people yesterday and will probably end up using a shortened R31 set up on the rear, but will have a look into the hilux diff as well. Apparently S13 don't fit in so R31 struts with R32 4 pots at the front I think! No flares will be going on, visual changes to the body will be kept to a strict minimum..

I did have a few wins yesterday. I have sourced a Sunny coupe dash for the tacho. While I was looking, noticed that the ol' coupe was equipped with factory air! All intact still so if I can squeeze a condenser up front, between rad & IC, she'll be getting optioned up.

the 79-82 (1st gen) hilux diffs are 1410mm wide and i think come in 4.3, 4.5, 4.88 factory ratios and up to 5.11 ratios aftermarket. there lsd's are poo... a re-built lsd will last 3-4 months with the standed 4cyl and 33'' tyres

but are the other hilux diff the same lenght as the first generation cause on old treads it was put into discution and it was mentioned that if the diff need to be shortened it is only by 15mm.

and another question. what r u guys doing for the front suspentions. i mean camber
lower arm springs tention control tie rod and shock absorbers.

not sure on different gen's.. ive heard of the 15mm chop before, but that was for a toyota sprinter convertion??

but if it is only 15mm i wouldnt worry as you will need to run at least 15'' rims, so you could just find the right offset to suit.. or look at a brake convo, because those hilux drums are HHUUGGEE!!!!

Nice! Thanks for that mate. Yeah, he got the paperwork done there and then.
Have heard since then that he's got a good rep for getting cars passed.

Are you running disks on the back? If so you need to remove/change the proportioning valve in the master cylinder as drum brakes have a different pressure than disks (I think there is always a little pressure on them...) I had a similar problem on a race car but the rears were coming on and staying on. Your problem sounds like your rears are getting more pressure than the fronts and locking up. Should be an easy fix.
