Fortunately in the US if you can figure how to install a Small Block Chevy you can usually license it, with one of these older cars.
I don't see this as "fortunate" as I've seen some of the unbelieveably dangerous engineering that has come from some backyard workshops & I wonder what the statistics are on major collisions as well as injury & death that has resulted from grossly unsafe & poorly engineered homebuilt/modified cars on US roads.

I'm all for the current system over here as I feel safer when out with my family & friends knowing that the chances of being hit by some fool with no money, no brains & no engineering skills is vastly reduced.
It also passes legal liability of stuctural & constructional responsibility onto somebody else & that's worth a few hundred dollars to me.

you can register a 13b anywhere in aus cause the ute is looked as a comercial vehicle so it does't apply to those rules like rotary in litres x2 so 13b would be 2.6l its only on sedans and stuff so go for it mate!!!

Good point Dodge. I guess that my point is that there are hundreds, thousands or more examples of cars in such disrepair because of the lack of a true "safety" check that the few cars that are tuned up are of little concern, statistically. The days when you would see big block Vegas and Pintos have subsided all but at the drag stip because it is so much easier to mount the turbo off of the big rig on you Mitsubishi Starion. I still think that a guy that does a good job of installing an alternate engine maybe shouldn't have to jump through as many hoops as it sounds like youall have to.
