Hey guys,

Just wondering if it is legal to put an SR20DET in a Datsun 1200 ute in Queensland??? or is the ca18det the biggest engine legally from qld??

Im pretty sure its Ca18 max across australia mate other wise we would have some crazy 350-400hp sr 1200's out there

we can still dream hehe

some have sr20dets rego'ed but why not go over the pits with a sr20det but take off the turbo get it regoed and put turbo back on . well thats wat i plan to do over hear you only go over the pits wonce unless you get a yellow sticker

I have an SR in my 1200 VVT no need for a turbo the thing has NO traction at all Kills my 5.7 230rwKW HSV as is and it cheap to run LOL

Hey champ, I pretty sure CA18DET is the biggest, you can register just a SR20DE as its natually aspirated but that letter T is the no no.. Y go SR, There is a article in Zoom a few months back about Mark Bourne's 1200 ute CA18 that runs 8 sec quarters rego'd in QLD, they do a comparison against the 2, try get a copy its a good read..

i dont bother with insurance so the idea suit me
you dont need much to beat a hsv family car

but i went ca18de was slow so went ca18det was slow and got a second ca18det low kms motor was slow so now im going the sr20det

with my ute if it dont beat my drift car its too slow

if you cant get the ca18det ute to go quicker than an sr20 s13 you have issues...

there is like 400kg difference

either that or your priority is your drift car when it comes to buying go fast bits
