The only downside of everyone purposefully not buying Australian is that we no longer get have an auto industry.....

I kinda like the auto industry, not only does it give me a job, but after mining is one of our biggest manufacturing industries.

Ford are reasonable, Aurions OK too, I've always had a problem with Holden quality though.....

If only the 380 didn't look like a dropped pie we could still have had 4 auto manufacturers in Oz.

I was wondering, just what, specifically, are these 'harsh Aussie conditions'

It gets much colder on Europe, the north part of the US, Canada & in Siberia, & it's much hotter in the middle east & other equatorial countries.

It's much wetter in most other places in the world since Australia is supposed to be the driest continent, [but not the driest country] & the legendary fine dust that Australia is infamous for is awfully hard to find in the major population centers where about 85% of all new cars are sold in Australia.

Africa & many other countries have much rougher roads too, so just what harsh conditions do you mean?

If you have owned a european car and had to change the brake pads, did you have to change the rotors as well??
Being a mechanic in a past life I had to deal with this all the time and the facts is that euro cars brake rotors are not made for the aussie heat. They warp and eat through the disc's, they are designed to hold heat in the brake system and they get to hot here hence the high wear rate.

There is harsh conditions everywere I was just using it as a throw away line...
