Early V Late Stanza struts

Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between the early 3-bolt and late 4-bolt variety of stanza struts. Its for a 1200 coupe and he wants some neg camber when its done.
Cheers! Daniel.

I am not sure what you mean by 3 or 4 bolt, but the caliper mountings are different between them and nothing really bolts up directly in theur place. The later struts are set up for the girlock calipers which are the same as 200B and also accept the 240K calipers as a straight bolt up.

Their is a section on this in the wiki

early ones are the same as sunny struts, 80mm caliper spacing and small stub axle
late ones are like 200b struts, 88.9mm caliper spacing and big stub axle

Also in regards to the neg camber, you will need adjustable strut tops, however you wont get massive amounts of neg camber. Maybe 4 degrees tops.
If you want more re-drill the holes in the cross menmber where the lower control arms bolt on.

Thanks for the replies so far.
The three/four bolt refers to the number of bolts at the top of the strut where it connects to the strut tower. We can't redrill the cross member as it against the rules of the class in which we race. He has the sunny LCA and longer lower ball joint with the sunny struts and it has positive camber. The early Stanza strut sounds like its the same, so there no point swapping that. He really needs some way of getting some decent neg camber and I wasn't sure the adjustable strut top would make more than 2 degree difference. So whats the best method then ?? Again, thanks for the info.

could you do the old bend the strut tube for neg camber?

Yeah, we thought of that at first, but we're trying to get around that as the car will need a blue slip and will be rego'd.
I don't think rta officials will like the struts being bent. Does anyone have any experiece in doin this ? Where do you bend and what do you need to watch out for?

I have had a few struts bent over the years. Right at the base where the tube meets the stub axle. Got about 1.5 neg out of it. Be mindful that this practise will put the inside edge of the rim /tyre closer to the strut tube.
Personally I think there are better ways of getting the neg camber these days. I would be looking at longer LCA's, different offfset balljoints or adjustable camber plates.

Rather than bending the strut tube the old tube can be machined out and the old stub can be angle milled to suit a larger tube.
This would give more camber and alow for a larger diameter strut insert. And as Benny mentioned, with wide rims clearance could become an issue. You can view topic.
