I just picked up a Z18ET with all the bits and pieces to get it going. Inc loom,puter,5 speed, alt, starter etc etc etc
Thing is I know nothing about them except that the most famous one was in Fury's Bluebird. Which I'm seeing tomorrow (car # 15 but not sure if its the real # 15)......pics to follow. I've heard good things about them and for the price I couldn't pass it up and decided its there so I might as well use it........so no SR20 in the 1000. 101KW should be enough for a 1000 but as we all know we always want more So........does anyone know anything about them ?...simple performance mods ?...weaknesses ?....thngs to look out for ?. Any help appreciated Cheers Neil

Z18s are a good engine and can take a floging a freind of mine has one with a stock bottom end a little port work a custom turbo manifold that I made and a pretty big T3 turbo off the side its making 170+kw at the wheels with 18psi. He drives it like he hates it most the time Im suprsied its lasted this long.
Its a bit of all or nothing with the power 5000rpm + hangon a smaller roller bearing turbo would fix that. Plus in a little 100 it will get along nicley even with a stock engine. good luck.

I have yet to hand over the money but the handshake is done and the agreed figure is $500.
He's even going to deliver it to the workshop for me.I'll take delivery next weekend if its not raining again. All I need now is to sort out the manifolds. I'll explain later when I get it and have some pics. It seems to have a slightly different intake manifold than all the other Z18's I have seen.

The Z18T uses the same bottom end as the L18 with a larger oil pump. A very reliable almost unburstable bottom end. The head has 42 inlets and 38 exhausts and with minimal port work can give very good Hp figures.
Check the distributor diapgraghm isnt ruptured as this is a common fault and you cannot buy diapgraghms. If the diaphraghm is ruptured you need to make up an S2 Bluebird electronic dissy and have a Cordia turbo boost retard canister fitted. Use a VG30 B/B turbo or replace the T3 turbo with a T28 ball bearing from a late SR20-DET on an adapter plate and you are cooking.

Cool......sounds like Errol is the man to talk to if I want to play with this engine.
I'm planning on just playing with the manifold and adding intercooler for now. I'll get some pics of it and show you why when I get it home. I'd heard the VG30 BB turbo was a bolt on. If miss bitch was still living here I could have lifted the one out of the Z but alas....I'll find one somewhere. Do you know if the stock computer is able to be "chipped" as I don't like the idea of spending big on aftermarket computer yet ? You can view topic.
