ahhh damn! it reminds me of a lc gtr torrie we had for a paddock basher a few years back pouring fuel in the carby and wouldnt you believe it the battery sparked and the bloody fuel drum caught alight! threw it and burnt a bit of the engine bay! it was fun

(and for anyone wanting to know why the f$ck we were bashing a gtr torrie the thing was absolutly shagged with rust so a we bashed it for a while took the tags and chassis # motor and rest of the drivline for some of my old mans projects)

Here are the parts with an IG 269 coat, should have had his photo earlier.

Finally got the shell out in the yard yesterday.

Well it was my first time to blast thin sheet and it all went really well. Blew a few holes in the spare-wheel well but that was all. The underside was in fantastic condition.

Laying some more primer onto the shell. Using Integard 269 which is a great all-rounder primer. Infinite recoat window and it absolutely loves blasted steel.

And of course this is what it all looks like after the blast and IG269.

If I had some more time yesterday I would have blasted the engine bay. It started to rain mud (ash in the rain) though so I had to finish up.

A tip for those who are considering blasting: we use blast material called Garnett, it

Hey Brent,
Yes we have to ship all our material from Brisvegas though so Garnett is a good all-rounder, we tried Zeolite but it really doesn't perform.

Are you blasting panels too? I thought about it bet it's too risky. I will blast door edges too.

I'll keep an eye out for Illmenite, because we are doing more and more lightweight work.

When you say wet sand do you mean the material is moist?

We use (on one of our units) what's called an air prep, basically cools and dries the air.

And on our second plant we have used three full lengths of galvanised pipe with fittings on the ends, the air passes through and cools down. It's like a giant intercooler.

There hasn't been nearly as much caking since we cooled the air. We have three moisture traps though.

So I managed to get some time for the B10 yesterday.

Here is the engine bay before I blasted

Cabin. The acoustic matting was in really good condition, it withstood the blast and the bits that had rust underneath were scraped off.

Admiring the uglyness of the paint and the beauty of the B10!

I'm painting the underside with IG688 (black) tonight but the due date for my work project (as in real work, the type that earns the money) has been brought forward so I may not get as much done in the next few days.

EDIT: Also found a bit more rust in some of the body, will probably fill those tonight rather than spray paint.

Cheers,

Chris
