Checked out those accumulators - looks interesting, but if i go to that trouble I might even go dry sump....but something else to think about

couple grand for dry sump oil pump plus lines tank etc kiss goodbye to $2-4k
couple hundred for accumulator
not even in the same ball park

i cringe a little when i think about you toying with the sump for a race car, i would think you are playing with fire a bit here. Keeping the oil topped up, fresh and cool (oil cooler) might be a safer way to do it.

...well all I can hope is that I don't get burned.

Until I've been there and done that I suppose all I can do is listen to the advise (often conflicting) that's around and make a lame arse decision at the end of all that.

yeah i get what you mean, i get torched for many of my proposed mods from my mates, i guess i'd hate to see you bugger a motor for something that may not have been necessary to have been changed but if you've done your research it should be ok.

i run a winged cast sump on my sr, its a copy of the greddy one that i'm sure has had plenty of r and d done on it, i did as my sump was damaged, i wanted to mount sensors in it which it had pre made and i thought the extra oil would help in cooling.

interestingly enough i've found that with so much oil it doesn't get even close to the temp i want it to thus being a negative thing. so adding 2L is probably going to do the same for you. more oil is not necesarily a good thing, i want more temp and can't get it!

I must admit I'm a little concerned, I'll monitor it the best I can and if it's not working I might just get another stock sump and an oil cooler.

The guy helping me making it up has a few racers at this work that guarantee it will be the best thing since...well something anyway.

Worst case I guess is a $500? or so mistake for a new short motor......but I will be doing some testing before it goes back on.

Appreciate the comments all the same Lag as i know your hearts in the right place.

what is the purpose? just extra capacity or are you trying to gain some under car clearance also?

Capacity as from what I've been told oil starvation comes more from frothy or degraded oil than a lack of fluid at the pickup - so the idea is to firstly have more capacity and thus less froth and second more oil around the pickup so it's even less likely to run out.

Under car clearance is about the same.
